The presentation provides an overview of the historical distribution and recent population trends of the midwife toad (Alytes obstetricans) in Luxembourg. As fieldwork is still ongoing, I will also present the methodology and purpose of the environmental DNA (eDNA) sampling I conducted at selected sites to test for the presence of the chytrid fungi Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis (Bd) and B. salamandrivorans (Bsal). Finally, I will outline the planned fieldwork steps for the coming months.
